The World Summit on the Information Society
From November 16 to 18 in Tunis
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU), an international organization within the United Nations System where governments and the private sector coordinate global telecom networks and services, is preparing the second phase of the World Summit on the Information Society, to be held from November 16 to 18 in Tunis.
The first phase of the Summit, that was held in December 2003, in Geneva (Switzerland), a Declaration of Principles and Action Plan was adopted. In the second phase of WSIS efforts are being made to put the Plan of Action into motion and working groups have been set up to find solutions and reach agreements in the fields of Internet governance and financing mechanisms.
